Remember that one episode from Grays Anatomy? Yeah, that one episode! You know, the one where that one guy who's friends with that one girl does that really awesome thing and saves that other guy? Yeah, me neither. But I do remember the single episode of Grays Anatomy that I watched. Though it was a bad show, I must say that I'm glad I watched it because I can now use this fabulous analogy!
In one episode of Grays Anatomy the hospital buys a fancy new toy that can do a full body scan in ten seconds flat. They have a significant lack of people to perform full body scans on( Because the lack of injured people is totally their biggest problem!) so they perform the scans on themselves because it's JUST THAT COOL. So what does this have to do with the Aezon? Well the Aezon is kinda like that fully body scan thingamabobber. Except it doesn't do body scans. Instead it can detect up to sixteen diseases in your body as well as monitor all of your vitals! Which is pretty cool if I do say so myself. So without further ado I present once again a kickstarter review. This time of something that may not be a scam (Hopefully :P )

General Coolness:
I want you to think of a hospital in a movie. Needles poking into a person's skin and then hooked up to a machine just to monitor their vitals. Now think of the last time you went into a doctor's office. You probably got a shot for some really common disease that you didn't think you had didn't you? Well guess what guys, the Aezon does not just one of those things, but BOTH. Not only does it do both, but it also does it without the needles. "How could this system get any better?" You ask. Surely something that eliminates needles from the hospital is deserving a Nobel Prize already right? Well there is more! The Aezon does those things AND fits in your pocket as well. All that stuff with the pint size of an iphone. Pretty cool right?
You're damn right it's cool! So how could it be cooler? Well remember how I mentioned the Nobel Prize earlier? IT's not exactly going for the Nobel prize, but it is going for something of equal coolness and prestige. The Aezon is going for the magical, the amazing, (Drumroll please.) Qualcomm Tricorder Prize! Which I've never really heard of (Probably because I'm not a scientist.) but apparently it's a ten million dollar global contest. If this thing doesn't win, then I tremble to know what will.

First Impressions:
They made a very nice video demonstrating their intentions with the Aezon and how they began to work and how they're currently working. I've made the video appear below with magic.
Brought to you by Gandalf the Gray
Once again, the first thing that I noticed about the video was the acting in it. I recognize that some of these people aren't professional actors, but they're making a video for a contest. It should look nice! The main issue I have is that some of them don't look at the camera while they're talking. Mainly the lovely lady in the video. The other concern is that they have the teamwork schpeel first rather than last. While I care about their team, not everybody does. They just want to see the product. Besides, commercial then schpeel is the traditional sense and in this case fixing something that isn't broke makes no sense.
In some scenes there was also a large amount of background noise. Which was kinda disconcerting and made it hard to listen. It also appeared that they didn't use the same type of microphone for everyone because some of their voices sound more nasally than others. Which we all know from watching twelve year olds playing call of duty online can get very disconcerting, and sometime slightly hilarious.... Fine, I'll admit it. VERY hilarious.
After I got over the acting the commercial that they had was pretty good. Despite looking at the ground fifty percent of the time, Tatiana (The lovely lady for those of you who were only looking at her breasts.) brought up some points that I didn't even think of. The Aezon will be be a real time saver! It will also mean less trips to the doctor as well. Which surprisingly I didn't consider until she mentioned it. Good job Tatiana!
Now onto the actual machine itself. They advertise it as a super machine capable of diagnosing fifteen different diseases and monitoring five different vital signs. What I'd like to know is not how the bloody thing works, but how it is going to benefit me. What vital signs will it monitor specifically, what diseases does it detect? Yeah, it explains these things in the campaign, but not everybody is going to read that thing! I'm the customer, I'm going to buy the thing. You worry about how it works, I'll worry about how well it works. Got it? Okay.

Practicality:
This thing could not be MORE practical. Last time I gauged practicality on whether or not you really need something, and I have to say that some people definitely need this. You might say that people could just go to a doctor, but I say that they made this thing out to be super cheep. Maybe this thing could actually be less expensive than an annual trip to the doctor? There's no way of knowing for sure until it comes out. But for now it's sounding that it might be pretty likely.
Like I said before, the thing is small. So you could take it on that vacation to Maui that you've been planning. Or you could bring Grandma and rest safely knowing that if anything were to happen while you're over there you'll know what. I say that this thing gets a 10/10 for practicality. Good job guys!

Aesthetics:
I want you to look at that Aezon real long, and real good. What do you notice about the Aezon that you don't notice in other hospital devices. A significant lack of squareness! It's got a pretty neat design, what with it's circular bumps. It certainly does not make my brain explode with joy at the artistic value of it, but it didn't make me go "Eeeeeew." either.
It also has that amazing symbol going on for it. Not only does it look cool, but it symbolized the Aezon. With it's big undercase A emblazoned within a bright drop of orange paint this design looks pretty cool. Not only that but I can see it being on hospital beds for years to come.

Innovation:
Sorry guys, but I can already say that the Aezon has already won this category as well. When was the last time you had a doctor in your pocket? "Honey, I shrunk the doctor!" ? Nope, they haven't made that movie yet so it's still valid! Check and mate. Aezon gets the point.
It also gets double points for following my own personal definition of innovation. "The act of reducing the size or thickness of an object and or group of objects." the thing fits in your pocket where previously it would fill almost an entire room. That's real innovation bitches!

Likeliness to succeed:
Unfortunately I don't think that the kickstarter will succeed in getting as much money as expected. Which is unfortunate. Thankfully I can see them succeeding later in their career while developing this thing. Why? Because I think that they can actually win this contest thing. But how would that help them? Well as it says on their page, these Hopkins students are vying for the 10 MILLION dollar prize in wearable health tech. Which is a LOT OF MONEY for those of you that somehow have learned how to use the internet without knowing jack shit about money. Which is probably ninety percent of you.
There's also the fact that this is a prestigious contest, so they'll get a lot of exposure from potential investors. Which could possibly get them even MORE money as well as boosting their chances of getting this thing manufactured and sold at hospitals around the world. Pretty sweet deal right? I say that as long as these people know how to manage finances they'll do pretty damn well.

How many "Backings" it has gotten so far:
Unfortunately the Aezon has not gotten as many backing as I would like for it to have gotten. It's been doing it's thing since the third of February and all it's gotten so far is a measly forty eight backings. Which may seem like a lot but it's really not considering how much money they need to consider the project a success. From those forty eight backings, it has only been able to milk three thousand three hundred dollars. Which I don't really understand. Frankly, I think this thing should be doing much better. For shame people, for shame.
Similarities To An Actual Business:
As much as I would like to say that it seems like an actual business I can't. The Aezon team seems to be more of a group of friends rather than a group of business partners. Which I suppose is fine. Considering how well they've done I suppose that it can be excused. Unfortunately group of friends does not = business. So I have to say that they have failed this test. You can hear the sounds of babies crying right now.
Perks:
I have to say that the perks for this one are pretty good. Nice solid perks that one would expect. For fifty dollars you can get a neat t-shirt, for twenty five dollars you can get an email from the team thanking you as well as your name on the funders list, for five bucks you can get your name on the website as well as the satisfaction of helping peoples.
They also have this neat replica that you can get for 75 dollars. It's not fully functional, but I'm told that it make a table centerpiece. I'm sure it also make a great conversation starter. "Hey Larry, what's that thing you have in the middle of the table?" "Oh you know, it's just making sure that WE DON'T ALL DIE!"

All in all, I'd say that the Aezon could be beneficial to the whole world and I hope that if it doesn't get all of it's kickstarter money it can at least be ready in time for the contest and win the thing. Because if there is one thing that this thing is, it is AMAZING! There is no way that judge wouldn't vote for it.
